İskender Kebab (Döner with Tomato Sauce and Yogurt)

Ingredients: 

  • – 1 lb (450g) döner meat (or thinly sliced lamb/beef)
  • – 4 pieces of pita bread
  • – 1 cup yogurt
  • – 1/4 cup butter
  • – 1 cup tomato sauce
  • – 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • – Salt and pepper to taste

 

  Instructions: 

  1. Prepare the Sauce:  In a saucepan, melt butter and add tomato sauce, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  2. Cook the Meat:  In a skillet, cook the döner meat over medium heat until browned and heated through.
  3. Assemble the Dish:  Place pita bread on plates, top with cooked meat, and drizzle with tomato sauce. Add a dollop of yogurt on the side.
  4. Serve:  Garnish with additional red pepper flakes if desired.
